Shoreline Women's Basketball announces coaching change
Shoreline Athletic Department is pleased to announce a new coaching staff for the 2018-19 Women’s Basketball team. Following Head Coach Christopher Weakley’s resignation in December 2018, Assistant Coach Marvena Kemp and Rodney Walker have been appointed Co-Head Coaches for the Women’s Basketball team.
Coach Marvena Kemp brings over 20 years of basketball experience at all levels as well as hosting athletic events in Washington. Some of the notable events Kemp directed was being the Northwest Event Coordinator for Elite Sports, Director of the 10th Annual Battle at the Lake outdoor tournament, Director of the 15th Annual Shawn Kemp “Reignman Classic,” and Co-Director of the 5th Annual Northwest Collegiate Summer League. Coach Marvena Kemp also serves as the President of the Marvin Thomas Memorial Fund.
Coach Rodney Walker brings a wealth of basketball knowledge and has coached at many levels from AAU to Semi-Professional. Walker was an assistant High School Basketball Coach from 1998 through 2001 at Everett’s Cascade High School and was part of the coaching staff that twice sent teams to State. Walker was later the Head Girls Basketball Coach at Sultan High School from 2006 to 2009, and led Sultan to 3 district appearances, and was named the Cascade Conference Coach of the Year.
