Portland Men's Basketball suffers tragic loss

Portland Community College Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach Aaron Bell passed away Oct. 2, 2018, due to complications resulting from a heart attack.

Aaron was a member of the PCC coaching staff that led an incredible turnaround of the men’s program. Prior to being hired, PCC had a 1-49 win-loss record in the two previous seasons.

Bell’s hard work, leadership and infectious personality helped get the Panthers into contention immediately. The Panthers finished in 3rd place in the Southern Region his first year. The next year Bell helped guide the Panthers to a first place region finish and the 2013-14 NWAC Championship. Both achievements were the first in school history.

Bell graduated from Benson High School in 1986 then played two years of basketball at Grays Harbor Community College. From there he accepted a Division 1 scholarship to Weber State University.

Coach Bell will be missed by all.
