HOLDEN NAMED NWAACC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL COACH OF THE YEAR

VANCOUVER, WA - Columbia Basin Head Coach Cheryl Holden has been voted the 2011-12 NWAACC Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year. The Hawks won the 2012 NWAACC Championship beating Yakima Valley 60-59 in the championship game held March 6th. This is the third time Holden has been named Coach of the Year and her third NWAACC title in her eleven years at Columbia Basin.

NWAACC Executive Director, Marco Azurdia stated, “It was an incredible and exciting championship game, Coach Holden and the Hawks exemplified an outstanding work ethic, great teamwork and poise. It is quite obvious that Coach Holden has a significant impact on her players both on and off the court.”

The Hawks finished the year 29-2 overall and also claimed the East Region regular season title (their second consecutive regular season title).
