Green River Wins Men's Tennis Title SPOKANE, WASH- Green River took home four individual/doubles titles and one team title from this weekend's NWAACC Championships held in Spokane. The team victory marks their second consectutive NWAACC Championship. The Gators had representatives in all but one championship match. Winning individual glory for the Gators was Travis Johnson who won the #2 singles utle over Spokane's Michael Shelton in three 6-3,2-6,6-1. Fellow Gator Chris Dew won the #4 singles championship beating Milad Arefi 6-,6-4. Dew teamed up with Adam Blackner to win the #1 doubles title over Spokane's Alex Hart and Shelton 6-2,2-6,7-5. Johnson and Michael Paretta won the #2 double 6-2,6-2 over Spokane. Esteban Ferrero won the #1 singles title beating Spokane's Hart 6-3,6-3. Andrew Persen of Spokane defeated Paretta 6-0,6-0 for the #4 singles title. Shoreline's Brian Kaloper bested Arefi (GRCC) 4-6,6-1,7-6(1). Jarrod Watson won the #5 singles championship. Spokane finished second in the tournament, eight points behind Green River. Shoreline was third. Treasure Valley and Skagit Valley were fourth and fifth respectively.

Hall of Fame Inductees Announced Vancouver, WASH- The 2007 NWAACC Hall of Fame inductees have been announced. The inductees will be honored at the 20th Annual Hall of Fame Banquet being held at the Bellevue Red Lion May 31st. Fall Tennis Jamboree On November 4, 2006, a Fall Tennis Jamboree will be held on the Indoor Courts at Nordstrom Tennis Center located on the University of Washington Campus. The Jamboree is open to all community colleges students in an effort to generate interest in the sport of tennis and encourage participation. Players will be separated into two divisions, an A Division and a B Division. The A Division will consist of players who competed in the NWAACC last season as a 1-3 single or new players skilled enough to play in those spots. The B Division will be players who competed in the 4-6 singles positions or new players who determines themselves into this category. The format will consist of Pro sets (8 games) and no ad scoring. Each player will be guaranteed at least two matches. If you are interested in registering, contact Eric Moujttahid-Webster at emouj1@aol.com by Monday, October 31st. Specify which division you are interested in competing in. A bracket will be drawn and you will be notified of your first court time. Proof of medical insurance will be required.
