Wenatchee Valley's Ashlynn Burgess and North Idaho's Rayquan Evans named 2019 Baden Basketball Athletes of the Year

ASHLYNN BURGESS GUARD
SOPHOMORE WENATCHEE VALLEY
Burgess led the 28-5 Knights to the 2019 Women’s Basketball Championship title where she was named the championship tournament MVP. In the semifinal game vs top-ranked Lane, Burgess tallied a double-double scoring 24 while taking down 10 rebounds. She followed that with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocks in the title game vs. 3rd-ranked Umpqua.
For the season, the East Region MVP recorded 18.6 ppg on 53.7% shooting and registered 6.9 rebounds per game.
Burgess has signed with Seattle Pacific University for next season.
RAYQUAN EVANS GUARD
SOPHOMORE NORTH IDAHO
Evans led the 31-2 top-ranked Cardinals to an East Region title and their second consecutive NWAC Championship. The two-time championship tournament MVP had a double-double against 2nd-ranked Lane in the semifinal game, scoring 18 points and pulling down 15 rebounds. In the title game, Evans was unstoppable ripping the nets for 32 points on 65% shooting while dishing 6 assists and going 9-9 at the charity stripe.
For the season, the East Region MVP turned in 18.2 ppg and was second in the league in steals (79) and third in assists (162). The point guard also pulled down 7.4 rebounds per game and had the third best assist to turnover ratio of 3.1.
Evans is still considering several options for next season including offers from Florida State, Gonzaga, and Washington State.
