2017 Fall Sports Coaches of the Year

VANCOUVER - The NWAC is pleased to officially announce the Fall 2017 Coaches of the Year.

Bill Steyer Lane Community College
Men's Cross Country

Steyer, in his first year at the helm of the Titans, led his Men's Cross Country team to Lane's second straight XC title. Three Titans were named to the NWAC All-American team including the Men's individual NWAC Champion and runner-up.

Blas Guerra Treasure Valley Community College Women's Cross Country

Guerra guided the Chukars to second place finish at the championship meet. Three Chukars earned NWAC All-American honors including the the Women's NWAC individual Champion.

Steve Mohn Highline College
Men's Soccer

Mohn, the West Region Coach of the Year, managed the 2nd-ranked Thunderbirds to a 14-1-3 record and the 2017 Championship, Highline's third title. The Thunderbirds' defense was the best in the conference, allowing only 11 goals in 18 matches. Six of Mohn's players were named to the North-West All-Star team.

Tom Moore Highline College
Women's Soccer

It was a good year to be from Highline and be ranked #2 in the final poll as Tom Moore led his undefeated squad to a 18-0-2 record and Highline's second NWAC Championship. His Thunderbirds had one of the stingiest defenses in NWAC history allowing only 5 goals while the offense was one of the most productive in history scoring 99 goals (4.95 goals per match). Seven of Moore's players were named to the North-West All-Star team including the West Region MVP.

Traci Stephenson Chemeketa

Stephenson, the South Region COY, led the top-ranked Storm to a 30-4 record and Chemeketa's fourth NWAC Championship.  Chemeketa cruised through the championship tournament going 5-0 - winning all matches 3-1 until Bellevue found a way to stretch a CHCC contest to 5 sets in the title match. On the season, the Storm won 89 sets while only giving up 23 and ended the season on a 24 match winning streak. Four of Stephenson's players were named to the South Region All-Star team including the Region MVP.
